Sichuan Institute of Fine Chemical Industry Research and Design is one of important institutes in Sichuan province. It is a technology type enterprise and economical entity.

The institute, founded in 1958, has an area of 170 Mu. with the working staffs 300 including over 120 technican and engineers. There are Chengdu division institute, two centres for technical development and quality examination, 8 subsidiary plants, Sichuan Station of Chemical Product Quality Control and Sichuan Centre for Fine Chemical Engineering Technology Research established in it.

Before 80抯, our institute performed development and research of natural gas chemical industry. Our research achievements have won the prize from National Science Conference and the province medals of technical achievements. In recent years, our emphases of research and products have turned to fine chemical industry, the fields involved flame retardant, new solvent for removing H2S and CO2 from natural gas, refinery gas and synthetic ammonia, rubber and plastic auxiliary surfactant, agricultural chemicals and chemical intermediates. We have made a significent progress and completed 200 research items, of which 45 have become important items of National or province, 24 have won the province or city medals of technical achievements, 60 have been put into commercial use rapidly. In our products flames retardant Melamine Cyanurate (MCA) and a new efficacious solvent for removing H2S gas sterically hindered amine TBEE have been put on the list of Technical Innovation Fund of the Ministry of the Science and Technology for medium and small-sized technology type enterprises.

The institute has a powerful technical force, advanced examination method for products, and so can carry out design, manufacture and contract of chemical projects.
