DLC coating stands for Diamond-Like Carbon coating. It is primarily achieved through two methods: one is CVD, Chemical Vapor Deposition, and the other is PVD, Physical Vapor Deposition. IP refers to Ion Plating, which is a type of PVD technology.
DLC coatings are generally black, highly wear-resistant, and anti-slip. IP coating, or Ion Plating coating, is also widely used for producing DLC.
Diamond-Like Carbon coating, or simply DLC coating, is an amorphous film that can be broadly categorized into two types: hydrogenated diamond-like carbon (a-C:H) coating and hydrogen-free diamond-like carbon coating. Hydrogenated DLC coatings contain hydrogen in the range of 20 at.% to 50 at.%, with sp3 content less than 70%. A common type of hydrogen-free DLC coating is tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C) film. In ta-C coatings, sp3 bonds dominate, with sp3 content generally exceeding 70%.
