Physical and chemical properties: Mostly white orthorhombic crystals or powder. Its melting point is 122.13°C, boiling point is 249°C, and relative density is 1.2659. It sublimes rapidly at 100°C, and its vapor is highly irritating. Benzoic acid is slightly soluble in water but easily soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether.
