High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) double-wall corrugated pipe is a new type of pipe with an annular structured outer wall and a smooth inner wall, first developed in Germany in the early 1980s. After more than a decade of development and refinement, it has evolved from a single product into a complete product series.

High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) offers excellent chemical stability, aging resistance, and environmental stress cracking resistance. The HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe produced from this raw material is a flexible pipe. Its main properties are as follows:

Strong resistance to external pressure

The annular corrugated structure of the outer wall significantly enhances the pipe's ring stiffness, thereby increasing its resistance to soil loads. In this regard, HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe has a clear advantage over other types of pipes.

Low engineering cost

Under the same load conditions, HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe requires a thinner wall thickness to meet requirements. Therefore, compared to solid-wall pipes of the same material and specification, it can save about half of the raw materials, making the cost of HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe relatively low. This is another prominent feature of this pipe.

Convenient construction

Due to its light weight, HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe is easy to transport and connect, enabling quick construction and simple maintenance. Its advantages are even more evident under tight schedules and poor construction conditions.

Low friction coefficient, high flow rate

HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe, made from HDPE, allows a greater flow rate than other pipes of the same diameter. In other words, for the same flow requirements, a relatively smaller diameter HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe can be used.

Low-temperature resistance and impact resistance

The embrittlement temperature of HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe is -70°C. Under general low-temperature conditions (above -30°C), no special protective measures are required during construction, making winter construction convenient. Additionally, HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe has excellent impact resistance.

Excellent chemical stability

Since HDPE molecules are non-polar, they exhibit extremely good chemical stability. Except for a few strong oxidizing agents, most chemical media do not cause damage. Common environmental factors such as soil, electricity, acids, and alkalis will not damage the pipe. It does not harbor bacteria, does not scale, and its flow area does not decrease over time.

Long service life

When protected from ultraviolet sunlight, the service life of HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe can exceed 50 years.

Excellent wear resistance

Tests in Germany have shown that the wear resistance of HDPE is even several times higher than that of steel pipes.

Appropriate flexibility

A certain length of HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe can be slightly flexed axially, unaffected by a certain degree of uneven ground settlement. It can be laid directly in slightly uneven trenches without the need for additional fittings, among other advantages.
