The full name of steel-plastic geogrid is steel-plastic composite geogrid. It is made of high-strength steel wires (or other fibers), specially treated, combined with polyethylene (PE), and other additives, extruded to form a composite high-strength tensile strip with a rough embossed surface, resulting in a high-strength reinforced geostrip. These individual strips are then arranged longitudinally and transversely at certain intervals through weaving or clamping, and the intersections are welded using a specially reinforced bonding fusion welding technology to form the reinforced geogrid.

The tensile force of the steel-plastic composite geogrid is borne by the high-strength steel wires woven in the warp and weft directions, generating high tensile modulus under low strain conditions. The longitudinal and transverse ribs work synergistically to exert the geogrid's interlocking effect on the soil.

The steel wires and the outer coating work in coordination, with a very low elongation at break (not more than 3%). The main load-bearing units of the steel-plastic composite geogrid are the steel wires, resulting in low creep deformation.

3. Through the treatment of the plastic surface during production, rough patterns are embossed to enhance the surface roughness of the geogrid, increasing the friction coefficient between the steel-plastic composite geogrid and the soil.

4. The width of the steel-plastic composite geogrid can reach up to 6m, achieving effective and economical reinforcement.

The high-density polyethylene used in the steel-plastic composite geogrid ensures that it will not be eroded by acids, alkalis, salt solutions, or oils at room temperature; it will not be damaged by water dissolution or microorganisms. At the same time, the polymer properties of polyethylene are sufficient to resist aging caused by sunlight. Under load, the longitudinal and transverse ribs of the geogrid work together, preventing the nodes from cracking or breaking. In practical engineering, after the compaction of the fill, it is not exposed to sunlight and oxygen, thus meeting the requirements of permanent engineering construction.
