4-Aminobenzonitrile is used in the synthesis of various drugs and materials, as a radiation protective agent, and as a derivatization reagent in capillary zone electrophoresis analysis of aldoses, ketoses, and uronic acids. It is also used in the synthesis of liquid crystal materials and fragrances. Additionally, it is employed in the preparation of methacrylic monomers containing side-chain azobenzene structures and polythiophenes with azobenzene moieties in the side chain. Synthesized drugs include Bicalutamide (Zhao Hui), Etravirine, and Dabigatran Etexilate.
