Industrial Applications

1. Used as a versatile desiccant, such as for drying gases like nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, hydrogen chloride, sulfur dioxide, etc. Serves as a dehydrating agent in the production of alcohols, esters, ethers, and acrylic resins. Calcium chloride aqueous solution is an important refrigerant for refrigerators and ice making, accelerates the hardening of concrete and enhances the cold resistance of building mortar, making it an excellent construction antifreeze. Used as a defogging agent in ports and a dust collector on roads, as well as a fabric fire retardant. Functions as a protective agent and refining agent in aluminum and magnesium metallurgy. Acts as a precipitating agent for producing lake pigments. Used in deinking during waste paper processing. Serves as a raw material for producing calcium salts.

6. Mainly used to treat tetany caused by reduced blood calcium, urticaria, exudative edema, intestinal and ureteral colic, magnesium poisoning, etc.

7. In the food industry, used as a calcium fortifier, curing agent, chelating agent, and desiccant.

8. Can increase the permeability of bacterial cell walls.
