Anticancer drugs: Fluorouracil (5-FU) exerts anticancer effects by inhibiting nucleic acid synthesis;
Antiviral drugs: Acyclovir (a purine analog, but structurally related to pyrimidine), Lamivudine (anti-HIV and hepatitis B virus);

Herbicides: Nicosulfuron (inhibits plant amino acid synthesis);
Fungicides: Azoxystrobin (mitochondrial respiration inhibitor, broad-spectrum fungicide).
Organic Synthesis Intermediates:
Used to synthesize complex heterocyclic compounds (such as purines, pteridines, quinazolines, etc.), constructing diverse structures and expanding application scenarios through functional group modification (e.g., introducing amino, hydroxyl, halogen groups at the 2, 4, and 5 positions).
Materials Chemistry:
Polymers containing pyrimidine rings can be used to prepare optoelectronic materials (such as Organic Light-Emitting Diodes, OLEDs), utilizing their conjugated structures and electron transport properties.
