Physicochemical Properties of Aluminum Phosphide and Its Technical Material and Formulations:
Aluminum phosphide appears as gray-green or gray-yellow in color. Chemical formula: AlP, molecular weight: 57.96. It is heat-resistant and stable in dry conditions but easily absorbs moisture, decomposing to release phosphine gas, leaving behind non-toxic aluminum hydroxide.
Applications of Aluminum Phosphide:
This product is a highly toxic broad-spectrum fumigant insecticide, appearing as gray or gray-green tablets, and is classified as a moisture-sensitive flammable substance. It is primarily used for fumigating various stored-product pests and space pests, and can also be employed for rodent control. Aluminum phosphide reacts with moisture to produce highly toxic phosphine gas. Phosphine enters the insect's body through the respiratory system, acting on the respiratory chain and cytochrome oxidase in the cell mitochondria, inhibiting normal respiration and causing insect death.
