Glycine (abbreviated as Gly), also known as aminoacetic acid, is a non-essential amino acid with the chemical formula C?H?NO?. It is a component amino acid of the endogenous antioxidant reduced glutathione and is often supplemented exogenously during severe stress in the body, sometimes referred to as a semi-essential amino acid.[1] Glycine is the simplest amino acid.
