Aminosulfonic acid is commonly used for gold or alloy plating. The electroplating solution for gold, silver, and gold-silver alloys contains 60–170 g of aminosulfonic acid per liter of water. A typical electroplating solution for silver-plated women's decorative pins contains 125 g of aminosulfonic acid per liter of water, resulting in a highly bright silver-plated surface. In new aqueous gold electroplating solutions, alkali metal aminosulfonates, ammonium aminosulfonate, or aminosulfonic acid can be used as compounds for conductivity and buffering purposes.
