Sihui Double Plus Chain  Double Plus Chain

The chain used for material conveying is similar to the chain used in chain transmission. The most commonly used conveying chain in engineering is the roller chain.
The so-called double plus conveyor chain is such a roller conveying chain. On the conveying line, the movement speed of the chain remains unchanged, but the pallet and workpiece being conveyed above the chain can be controlled according to the user's requirements to stop at the desired position for various assembly operations by the operator. After completing these operations, the workpiece continues to move forward for conveying. Therefore, the double plus conveyor chain can also be called a rhythm conveyor chain, free rhythm conveyor chain, double plus chain, differential speed chain, or differential chain.
The double plus chain consists of six parts: inner chain plate, sleeve, roller, roller wheel, outer chain plate, and pin shaft.
(1) Part materials
Typically, the roller and roller wheel are made of engineering plastic material through injection molding. Only under heavy load conditions are steel materials used. Apart from that, the rest of the parts are made of steel materials.
(2) Part connection methods
The structure of the double plus chain is similar to that of an ordinary double-pitch roller chain, wherein:
① Pin shaft and outer chain plate: The pin shaft and outer chain plate adopt an interference fit to form the chain link frame.
② Pin shaft and inner chain plate: The pin shaft and inner chain plate have a clearance fit to allow the chain to bend.
③ Pin shaft and sleeve: There are generally two connection methods between the pin shaft and the sleeve, as shown in Figure 3. One method involves inserting the sleeve into the inner chain plate with an interference fit, as shown in Figure 3(a); the other method involves not inserting the sleeve into the inner chain plate but directly placing the sleeve loosely on the pin shaft.

④ Sleeve and roller wheel: There is a clearance fit between the sleeve and the roller wheel, allowing relative rotation between them.
⑤ Roller wheel and roller: There is a clearance fit between the roller wheel and the roller, allowing relative rotation to reduce wear during operation, which is very important for continuous long-distance conveying.
(3) Connecting link: To form a closed loop structure, the double plus chain, like other roller chains, requires a connecting component called a connecting link. After connecting both ends of the chain, a locking device must be installed to prevent the connecting link from coming off. Figure 4 shows two commonly used locking device structures, where Figure 4(a) is a cotter pin. After inserting the cotter pin into the pin hole, it is bent outward to secure it.
Working principle of the double plus chain
① Roller wheel
When in use, the double plus chain is placed directly on the support surface of the guide rail below the chain through the roller. The roller is in direct contact with the support surface, while the roller wheel is suspended below. The pallet carrying the workpiece is placed directly above the roller wheel. Therefore, the roller wheel is the direct load-bearing component, bearing both the weight of the pallet and the weight of the workpiece being conveyed on the pallet.

② Roller: The roller is the direct load-bearing component, bearing both the weight of the pallet and the workpiece transmitted through the roller wheel, and rolling forward on the guide rail. At the same time, the chain is driven by the teeth of the sprocket in the driving part directly engaging with the roller.
③ Inner and outer chain plates, pin shaft: The inner and outer chain plates and the pin shaft are the connecting components of the chain, linking individual rollers and roller wheels into a chain.
④ Sleeve: The sleeve reduces friction between the pin shaft and the roller wheel, protecting the pin shaft.
(2) Speed-increasing principle of the double plus chain
The double plus chain is called a double plus chain, differential speed chain, or differential chain because of its special speed-increasing effect. That is, the movement speed of the pallet placed above the chain (including the workpiece being conveyed on the pallet) is greater than the forward speed of the chain itself. This effect is due to the special structure of the double plus chain.
