Chemical Properties

Colorless to pale yellow transparent liquid. Has the fragrance of lily and lily of the valley. Solubility 75%. Soluble in ethanol at a ratio of 6–7 times.

Uses

Used in the formulation of narcissus, lily of the valley, jasmine, and hyacinth fragrance types. It is a versatile fragrance that can be used in various floral types as well as many non-floral types. When used in lily of the valley, linden blossom, lily, and similar fragrances such as rabbit ear flower and lilac, it imparts a delicate aroma. In perfume formulations, it provides a floral top note. It is also used in soap fragrances and in orange blossom, lime, and other fragrance types. High-purity versions can be used in appropriate amounts in edible fragrances to impart floral notes, enhance richness and depth, and round out the flavor.
