Biological contact oxidation is an efficient wastewater treatment process that primarily utilizes biofilm attached to a carrier (commonly known as filter media) to purify organic wastewater. It has been widely applied in the treatment of textile printing and dyeing, wool spinning and knitting, beer and food, petrochemical fertilizer wastewater, pharmaceuticals, and domestic sewage, achieving significant environmental, social, and economic benefits. In recent years, with the increasing demand for water supply and the widespread organic pollution of surface water such as rivers and lakes to varying degrees, the contact oxidation process has also achieved remarkable results in treatment. Almost all organically polluted wastewater and sewage can be treated using the contact oxidation process. Over the years, this process has been widely adopted by design departments due to its unique advantages, such as high efficiency and energy savings, small footprint, resistance to shock loads, and ease of operation and management, making it highly popular and favored by users.
Biofilm carrier, or filter media, is the core component of the contact oxidation process, directly affecting treatment efficiency, oxygen transfer performance, capital investment, operational cycle, and costs. The three-dimensional elastic equatorial hybrid filter media produced by our company has been extensively tested under various conditions and has undergone long-term operational runs, proving to be an ideal carrier media. Due to its unique structural design and excellent material selection, it offers advantages such as long service life, excellent oxygen transfer performance, low power consumption, rapid biofilm formation, easy biofilm detachment and renewal, high resistance to shock loads, significant treatment effects, simple operation and management, no clogging, no agglomeration, and low cost. When applied to different process water quality conditions, the filament fineness density and assembly form can be adjusted to fully suit anaerobic, anoxic, and aerobic treatment processes for various types of wastewater. Structure and Features
The YCDT three-dimensional elastic filter media selects several high-quality varieties of polyolefin polyamide that are corrosion-resistant, temperature-resistant, and aging-resistant. Mixed with additives such as hydrophilicity, adsorption, and heat-oxygen resistance, it undergoes special filament drawing and texturing processes. The filaments are fixed onto a corrosion-resistant, high-strength central rope. Due to the excellent process formulation and optimal rigidity and flexibility, the filaments are arranged in a three-dimensional, uniform, radial pattern, forming a suspended three-dimensional elastic filter media unit. The media can fully and uniformly spread in all directions within the effective area, allowing gas, water, and biofilm to mix, penetrate, and exchange thoroughly. The biofilm not only evenly attaches to each filament, maintaining good active and variable voids, but also achieves an increasingly larger specific surface area during operation while facilitating effective metabolism. This characteristic and phenomenon are unmatched by other domestic filter media currently available.
Compared to rigid honeycomb media, the YCDT three-dimensional elastic filter media offers greater void variability and no clogging. Compared to soft media, it has a longer material lifespan and no adhesion or agglomeration. Compared to semi-soft media, it provides a larger surface area, rapid biofilm formation, and lower cost.
